Skiing in Sappada

Sappada is a small but perfectly formed ski resort nestled in a valley in the Dolomites, and is particularly ideal for beginners and families. The village itself is built in a typical Italian mountain style, which will be pleasing to traditionalists, and lies in the shadow of the Peralba, Terze and Siera Mountains.

Around 80% of the runs here are covered by snow-making machines, ensuring skiing between December and April. Four chairlifts and 14 ski lifts serve the slopes, which are spread across two areas that are linked by trains and buses, Monte Sierra and Sappada 2000. You can also get to them on foot from the centre of the town.

The bulk of the runs are blue and red, but those looking for a challenge can also take advantage of around 15 km of cross-country ski trails.

One point of interest for families is the Nevelandia amusement park - the biggest amusement park on snow in Italy with an area of 70,000 sq m - which includes snow-tubing, bobsleigh, sledding and ice skating facilities for young ones.
