Skiing in Pontedillegno-Tonale

Pontedillegno-Tonale is located on the border between Trentino (with Val di Sole) and Lombardia (with Valle Camonica). Vermiglio and half Passo Tonale are in Trentino (Val di Sole) while half Passo Tonale, Ponte di Legno, Temù and Vezza d’Oglio are in Lombardia (Valle Camonica).

Skiers can take to the slopes from an altitude of 1,121 m at Temù to 3,000 m on the Presena glacier, with lots of varied runs and amazing views to enjoy in between.

Passo Tonale

The Passo Tonale area of Pontedillegno-Tonale is a wide, natural winter sports amphitheatre offering skiing between altitudes of 1,884 m and over 3,000 m. Highlights include the 3 km Paradiso run, which is ideal for expert skiers and has a descent of 710 m, as well as the 4.5 km Alpino run with its 725 m drop. There’s a freestyle arena for snowboarders here and the snowpark offers two zones with over 25 features, including a learning area for beginners.

Presena glacier

The Presena Glacier offers skiing beyond the standard winter season and is accessible via a gondola that takes skiers up to an altitude of 2,585 m. The glacier is particularly ideal for those who love the thrill of off-piste skiing, with suitable areas including Maroccaro, Mandrone, Pisgana and Cima Venezia. Skiers can take a lift to the top to drink in the fantastic views from the summit of the glacier. The ski resort organizes Ice Music Festival, hosted in a builded Ice Dome on the glacier.

Pontedilegno

Pontedilegno (or Ponte di Legno) is a town located on a sunny plateau at 1,258 m and is one of the most popular destinations in the Upper Valle Camonica. There are 8 pistes and 5 ski lifts in the area, with the slopes linked to those in the Temù ski area. It is particularly good for intermediate and cross-country skiers, as well as snowboarders.

Temù

Temù is a compact village located around 3 km from Pontedilegno. It has 8 pistes (including a challenging black run) and 4 chair lifts, all linked to Pontedilegno. It’s possible to get from the village all the way up the Presena glacier on skis via 11 km of slopes and through Pontedilegno and Passo Tonale.

Vermiglio

Vermiglio is in the western Val di Sole and has some particularly good cross-country ski trails at Stavél and Velon comprising 20 km of tracks in Stelvio National Park and Adamello Brenta Nature Park for all abilities. The area is made up of the villages of Cortina, Fraviano, Pizzano and Borgonuovo.

Vezza d’Oglio

Vezza d’Oglio is a town in the Upper Valle Camonica around 9 km from Edolo and Pontedilegno. Snowshoeing is the main focus here in the winter, thanks in part to the annual moonlit snowshoe walk called Caspolada al chiar di luna that takes place here each February.
